How to mount an OPSIN on a helmet

Mounting OPSIN on a Helmet

Here is some information about putting an OPSIN on a helmet.

6 things fit together:
  Helmet
Mounting Shroud – most helmets come with this already
  Mount
Swing Arm / Adaptor for Dovetail or Bayonet
  OPSIN
  Battery & cable & pouch

Helmets
There are 2 basic types of helmets:  Bump and Ballistic

Bump helmets are lighter, cheaper, and protect your head from bumps, like a bicycle helmet does.
Ballistic helmets are much heavier, expensive, and are made to stop/deflect bullets.
For most civilian purposes, the bump helmet will be cheaper, and less effort to wear for long periods of time.
Do I buy this separately?   Yes

Shrouds
Most helmets already come with them.  See highlighted in picture below.
Most are 3-hole type, which is what you want for the OPSIN.
Do I buy this separately?   Not likely, most helmets come with one.

Mount
There are 2 common types:  Bayonet and Dovetail

There are different makers for Mounts, but we recommend the Cadex Mount.  This works seamlessly with our Swing arm.  We offer these on our website, but you can find them elsewhere.
Cadex Low Profile Flip Mount -  SIONYX page

Another maker of a dovetail Mount is Wilcox.  We recommend the Wilcox G24 Mount.  Search Google, or visit the
Wilcox website G24 page for a list of dealers.  NOTE:  Wilcox makes both bayonet and dovetail mounts so be sure you read the site closely.

Do I need to buy a Mount separately?  Yes
