Nightwave Digital has a Tool-panel icon
This is to allow users to access a few of the camera’s settings and information – things like your serial number and flipping the image directly on your MFD.
Once connected and booted up, and you have a solid red status LED on the Nightwave Digital, you will see a SIONYX icon on the main page/menu of the MFD.
This is for the Tool-panel (not where you view live video).
Instead, you will use the MFDs Video tile to select the Nightwave Digital under the Source settings.
Note on selecting the video source on different manufacturer’s MFDs:
For Raymarine: When the Nightwave Digital is connected and powered on, the camera name, “Nightwave Digital”, should appear automatically under Camera Source Settings.

For Garmin: the camera name may or may not show up the Camera Source Settings - depending on software/firmware versions. Please contact us if you see only “Show All” or “Alternate”.
NOTE: Garmin MFDs require a PoE isolation coupler (Garmin part number 010-10580-10) to be fitted in-line between the PoE injector and MFD.
For SIMRAD: you need to do an ONVIF search.
- Once the camera is connected, you should see a Sionyx icon on the SIMRAD home screen – this icon provides access to the Tool-panel
Live video will be accessed through the Video tile after you have added and configured the camera through the Simrad Settings menu – from step #2 below.
Examples of Tool-panel settings
- Adding and selecting video source - ONVIF
- Go to Main Screen by pressing the icon (grid of squares) in the top left corner
- Go to Settings by pressing the GEAR icon in the top left corner
- Scroll down to select the CAMERAS option.
- Select ONVIF SCAN
- If the SIMRAD MFD doesn’t show an option for ONVIF SCAN then a firmware upgrade to the SIMRAD is required. (For IDS systems, ONVIF may not be an option even with updated firmware. You may need to manually type in the IP address; please call SIONYX Support at 866-827-8237 or support@sionyx.com)
- “NIGHTWAVE DIGITAL” will appear. Click on the name (even if it says it is still Scanning. It means it found the Nightwave Digital camera and is now scanning for other things).
- Select CONNECT (no password, no user needed)
- In the RTSP field there is a tiny drop-down arrow; it can be hard to see. Choose a Video resolution
- highres = 1280x1024
- midres = 1280x720
- lowres = 640x512
- Click ADD
- Exit the settings menu and go to the main screen
- Go to Video icon (not the SIONYX icon)
- Press the “3 horizontal line” icon (the “hamburger” icon) on top-right corner to see Video Source choices
- Click on the name “NIGHTWAVE DIGITAL”
- You can build a COMBO element to have the Video and Camera controls side by side.
