Aurora - Different ways to Save and View Video and Photos

Saving Video and Photos:

With Aurora you can:

1) look through the Electronic Viewfinder (EVF) and take photos/video on the internal micro SD card using the physical buttons on the Aurora itself.

 or

2) You can stream the live image via the SIONYX mobile app and use the controls in the app (shown below) to choose Video or Photo, and tapping the red ‘button’ to record.

Both of these ways are recording to the micro SD card in the Aurora (not the app).
You will need a micro SD card inserted and formatted to use either the physical camera buttons or the app ‘buttons’.

Click  here  to learn how to format.

Reviewing the images:

You can then see the images by

  1. Using the playback function on the camera (4th choice on the dial) to review them in the EVF
  2. Connecting the camera to a computer via the supplied USB cable (the cable with the ferrite choke) and viewing or transferring the files

3. Remove the micro SD card from the camera, insert into the SD adaptor to fit into standard size SD card ports on a computer

4.  Or you can download the images from the micro SD card to the Sionyx app storage.
To do this, with the micro SD card in the camera, turn dial to the Wi-Fi setting (last one on the dial) and connect to the app. Instead of clicking the “Live View” icon, Select the ‘In Camera’ folder (see below) and tap the video or photo you want. You will then see a download icon. This now places the images on the app in the ‘In Device’ folder.
You can now view those files on the app if you are away from the camera or if the camera is turned off. You can share them from here, using the Share icon, or Upload / Export them to the phone itself. (Depending on the phone it will export to Gallery or My Files).

Some other Notes:

You can look through the EVF, OR stream the live image via the app (on a single mobile device) but NOT both at the same time.

You cannot stream the live view to more than one mobile device simultaneously.  The app can be loaded on more than one mobile device, but only one app can be connected at a time. (Please wait 1 minute between closing the app on your mobile device and opening the app on a different mobile device).
