Firmware - How to update Aurora Standard, Black, Sport, and Pro

You will have to format your SD card first before adding the firmware file to it via a laptop.

To format:

  1. Have the camera turned off.

  2. Insert SD card into Aurora  (see here)

  3. Turn the camera on

  4. Turn the dial on the outside of the Aurora to the last choice:  the Wifi / Setting mode.  Access the menu by a long press to the "SET" button.

  5. Navigate to the 'SD Card' choice, by using the small thin buttons that surround the SET button.  Then click the small thin button on the right to access the SD Card submenu.

  6. Select 'Format',  use the right thin button

  7. Select 'Yes' by highlighting it and then short press the SET button.  It will blink a few times.  Once it stops, the card is formatted.

    Then you remove the SD card, and add the appropriate file below for your type of Aurora to the SD card using a laptop. You can use the adaptor 'sleeve' to make the micro SD card fit into a normal sized SD card slot on your laptop if it doesn't have a micro SD card slot.

    Firmware versions

    AURORA PRO => 1.34

    Aurora Black and Sport (CDV-200) => 1.35

    AURORA (STANDARD) => 1.34

  8. Download the file by clicking on the "firmware" file name below

  9. Copy the file from your download folder to an empty, formatted microSD card

  10. Eject the SD Card (right click to see this option) and insert the card into the camera. Just pulling the SD card out of your computer might corrupt the file.  Choose Eject first.
  11. Insert the card into the camera
  12. Power the camera on and the Viewfinder will display "Updating" and power off when complete

  13. Turn the dial to Off, and then back to Camera, Video, etc.
